What is the Importance of Time Management?

Why is time management important? It is a good question. Maybe the term time management isn’t quite as descriptive as we would like. Maybe “life management” or “task management” would be a more apt description. This article shares with you a few things that show the importance of time management.

Time is limited. Firstly consider the fact that you only have so much time. Time on earth does not go on forever for humans – so time management is important because if you don’t make the best use of your time, pretty soon you won’t have any left!

What you do with your time equals who you are. Basically this means that you as a person are the sum of the things you do with your time. Someone who plays a lot of sport is often called a sporty person for example. Managing your time well is key to being the person you want to be.

Be happy. Time management means that you have less anxiety and stress in your life. You can engage in things that you enjoy more often. You wont be weighed down by a long to-so list as you have already done everything on it!

Have a balanced life. Instead of being a workaholic or not working enough, managing your time well means that you will enjoy a balanced life. You will have more time to play with your kids, spend time with your spouse or enjoy a round of golf if that is your thing.

Control over your own life. You get to decide how to spend your life. Say you want to have more time to travel – convince your boss to let you work remotely, then work super productively and cut your work hours but keep the same pay. If you work 40 hours per week this means you took control back over 20 hours.

What is the importance of time management? Well you tell me! What are you going to do today to start managing your time better?

Dry Erase Board Calendars As Time Organizers

Things can get pretty crazy in my home, especially as I have two hyperactive children. My family’s normal weekend plans are filled to the brim with things to do. But something was always going wrong, we were either late for an appointment, forgot to pick someone up on time or just plain old forgetting to do something important altogether. Then through the help of a good family friend we discovered the power of the dry erase board calendar.

I decided to use this method after one ultra crazy Saturday. I went online and searched for ways to organize my family life and that is where I found the dry erase board calendar. It is like organizing everything else in your home, except instead of physical things, you are simply organizing your time better.

The toughest part of using dry erase board calendars is selling the idea to your kids and getting them to use it. It’s best to sell the idea to them when they are in a happy mood as they will be more receptive and open to the idea. My approach was to pitch the concept like an advertisement. Personally I have yet to meet a child that jumps for joy at the thought of being organized, much less making a schedule of their lives. I made it a point to stress on the many times that I made them late for practice or how I forgot to pick their friends for sleep overs. You need to make your children feel as if the calendar is the key to you doing things for them on time, every time. Even if that may not always be true.

Due to the type of board you have the flexibility of making changes where necessary while maintaining neatness. You do not need to waste paper, or use a pencil so that you can erase what you’ve written. You can always erase with these boards whenever you need to. It’s time to get organized. What you will need to do is get everyone involved? Start by outlining the days of the week in a simple way. Next you will want to put the name of each family member. Start with the important stuff, such as any sports games, practices, trips, classes, parent teacher meetings, etc..

It will not be the easiest thing to get your family in the routine of using the dry erase board calendar and in the beginning there will be glitches. But keep working on it and eventually they will be having fun getting to things on time and doing what they want to at the right times.

Do you end up forgetting things you need to do or just seem late all of the time? A dry erase board calendar just might be able to help you get your time organized.

Time Management For Students

Everyone has a problem on how to manage time. If you will look around, you will notice some of your classmates have the same problem too. Trying to study for the next class, making up for late projects, doing home works in between classes, and so on. All of these are just some of the problems a regular college student encounters.

We all know that in college you get to have more freedom to do what whatever you want. There are parties that you want to attend to and events that you have participated in can also consume most of your time. You have to remember your main purpose in going to college is to earn a degree. This sometimes creates a conflict within most students. Their wants, their responsibilities, and their obligations all create confusion with in them.

Fun can cost you a lot. Having more fun time and lesser time for your studies might create a big hole in your college life that you will struggle to get out from. Of course, we all need to have fun but as a student your main goal is to finish college on time.

All students want to go through college with less effort and with more fun time on the side. For this to happen, you will need to set your priorities first.

Ways on How a Student can Improve Time Management

-Do not Drink Alcohol during School Nights

Drinking alcohol the night before a class can make you miss appointments or classes and this can later on affect your grades.

-Find out What is the Best Time for you to Study

Some students prefer studying at dawn while others prefer to study before they go to sleep. Identify the best time that suits you.

-Start with the Most Difficult Subjects

Do not procrastinate. Instead of putting aside the hardest subjects, study them first. The subjects that you find easy to study will only take a few minutes for you to understand. Finish the hardest first and this will give you more time for the rest.

-Fun Time

Studying all the time can quite give you more stress. When you feel tired or like when your mind is not anymore, try to go out and breathe some fresh air. When you go back to studying you can study much better.

To improve time management for students this will take a lot of effort and more disciplining on their part. As a student you should help yourself on how to improve your time management techniques. This will leave you more time for fun.

How To Live A Life Without Stress

Not many people live a life without stress. In this fast paced world, it would be like a dream come true.

Let us take a look at a normal lifestyle for a stay at home mother of three or more kids. They are the most stressed out person who walk this earth. From taking care of their kids, preparing meals, taking the kids to school, cooking, laundry, mending, washing the dishes, cleaning, ironing, and so on. Just thinking about all of these chores can tire you out.

Some moms are too tired to have a fun time of their own. I know a certain mom who lives a life like this. She runs herself ragged everyday to take care of her family and she is just like a robot, doing everything at the same time.

One day I bumped into her and noticed that she looks happy and energetic. That was strange. What I found out was that she had learned to manage her time in a better way. This was due to her reading a copy of a time management book. She bought it a few years ago but did not have time to read. But since she started reading it recently, she has been applying it to her life.

The time management book helped her a lot. It became her guidebook for her everyday life. Last i heard, she was going to buy another time management book.

It does really work. How well you manage your time can help you improve your life and yourself. By managing one’s available time well, you can relieve yourself from the stress that your daily activities bring.

With all the stress factors that are all around us, maybe we can follow the example of my friend. Buy a good time management book, curl up in your bed, and start reading.

Luckily for us there is a vast selection of time management books that are available in the market. Although most time management books usually are written for business leaders and CEOs, some are still applicable for anyone.

Time management books can help you plan ahead and how to handle your chores. Like my friend, she is now living a life that is relatively stress free.

Managing one’s time is really important. You get things done in no time at all and gives you more freedom to enjoy your life with less conflicts along the way.

How Time Management Tips Can Help You

Let’s face it we only have 24 hours a day. With so many things on our minds, endless chores to finish, return calls to make, meetings to attend, and so on, things can get out of control fast. These are just some of the activities that you go through in a week.

There are a lot of time management tips out there. Individuals differ from each other. Some time management tips may be effective to the person sitting right beside you but it would be not effective for you.

What you should really do before adapting time management tips or method is to assess yourself and how you go through the day. Keeping track of how much time you spend for every activity will help you identify time wasters. By knowing this you can easily eliminate or lessen the time you spend on activities that are unimportant.

Once you are able to do that, then you can organize your daily activities. Prioritize things that have deadlines and are important, once finished you will have more time for other things. Be realistic, just list things that you can finish in a single day.

It is very important that you should prioritize only important tasks. There are tasks that might be deceivingly simple, it will look very important but what it really does is it turns you away from your ultimate goal. Some of these tasks are unimportant meetings, social activities, calls, and other pressing matters.

Avoid being a perfectionist. Trying to do a chore over and over again, defeats its purpose. With this attitude you will never finish all your chores in just one day.

Another thing to remember is the importance of saying no. Some people that I know run themselves haggard trying to help others even if they have workloads up to their necks. Helping others finish their chores on time can never help you finish the assigned task to you.

Get things done by doing small tasks at the same time is a great time saver. For example, you can cook while washing the dishes, wash the car while watering the plants, and make some calls while commuting. These can help you save a lot of time.

Keeping notes of what you need to do can really help. If need be, try having a daily planner with you or a little notebook to keep track of your activities.

Once you have established your daily activities, it will become a habit. In no time at all you will find yourself accomplishing more tasks in a single day than before.
